adobe flash player problems?

has anyone else recently found they have been having problems accessing vids on websites (such as this?) I kept getting messages that I needed the latest version of flash player, but found I could neither upload it nor uninstall the existing version - not even by using adobe's own removal program. My teenage son googled it and found its a widespread problem which adobe ought to fix - but he told me to use mozilla firefox instead of internet explorer - and everything works fine.

Yes i had the same problem as you. I resolved it by restoring vista to the day before i had problem and now i can enter chatroom with no problem. Maybe have been a virus attack.

I tried "system restore" too but it failed to restore to any date I chose.

I don't think it's a virus - the troubleshooting forums visited by IT nerds all tell of problems with the latest updated Adobe Flash Player

Hi Karen, the reason why restore didn't work is that the computer may have overwritten the file that stores the system retore points. I had a prompt that the latest version 9.???.124(something like that) was ready to install. i was unsure as to install but had a look at several forums and created a restore point and installed it. Thankfully it worked. Have you gone to adobe web site? Will keep looking for you and let you know where the red box for the update came from. bye for now. James

we did look at adobe website - it said you can now only uninstall adobe flash player by using their own uninstall program - which we did - but after installing the latest version we found vids wouldnt run on some websites, would run on others (despite a warning sign saying the latest version was requuired to view!) and on youtube we could watch the latest movie we uploaded but nothing else.

we then installed adobe flashplayer using mozilla firefox as our browser - and it works ok on all sites - but still not right on internet explorer. whats happening?

and now i keep getting booted out of windows live messenger - i get a box saying "windows has encountered a problem and needs to close..." I uninstalled messenger and loaded up afresh from msn site - curiously all my profile pics and settings were still there - as was the boot out after a minute or so! doh!! whats going wrong?

I have had vista since it has come out, i use the spyware defender and firewall built in, it has never once hung up, i downloaded a few spyware/virus progs and found a mere37 infections, mainly tracking cookies. After 3 months on xp with 4 various "protection" programs i wpould be lucky to have as little as 100 infections.

Vista is a wholllllllllllllllllllle lot better than xp as long as you use it incorrectly. Makes me laugh when people moan about spyware on their pc and upon inspection the have bearshare installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! most errors on pc are software related which in turn is user error :)
