Some fair points made, I will offer a little something though to the discussion.
When I first started going in spring of 06, the thought of getting out of my car was pretty off putting. All those people you didnt know, not from fear of safety or anything, I think looking back then my thinking was that anything that would be going on already and me going over to look, would mean being told to sling my hook, so that was one reason, plus it was just, ya know, all a bit daunting.
I used to go into the main site, and do a circle of it and go right back out again, didnt dare STOP the car, yet alone get out of it lol. I also kept to myself, didnt speak to anybody and looking back, any success I had back then was pretty rare, right place right time, there had to be no other guys around and me sitting there whilst a couple rolled in. the situation had to be right back then, else it wasnt for me.
The newbies, I can understand them not getting out of the car certainly, having been in the same situation when I started, having said that, there are some people down there you see very often, months, and are there every weekend or other, and I have yet to see them out of the car and wouldnt know who they were if they stood beside me.
I spose that unlike me and some others, some single blokes arent aware of whos who, what couples have which car, etc, what couples tend to prefer, how they like to play things, etc, so factor everything in and it can get a bit bewildering for some, so they might freeze and stay in the car or drive out all together.
You gotta find your feet, took me a while, but speaking personally, theres no doubt that the get out of the car, walk around, keep yours eyes and ears open method has lead to much more fun.
